Dear sixth-grade crush. I stumbled upon some photos of the high school we went to. Memories hit me like a freight train. It took me back to almost a decade ago. It took me back to you.

Ah, inner beauty. The phrase you utter to describe and reassure people you don't find attractive. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's all a bunch of bullshit.We tell each other that beauty doesn't matter; all that matters is someone's personality. That's a lie. Beauty matters. Period.

I got the surprise of my life (more or less) when I checked my grades on Monday. I have always been a straight A's student, and the few B's that I have gotten in college so far have devastated me. Imagine how I felt the moment the website showed up, and I got a D. It was my first D ever. I had never gotten anything past a B+ prior to that.

I know I usually write about educational or thought-provoking (I hope) stuff, but I guess you can say the sentimental and emo side of me stirred back from its slumber. I have not written poems or dug into the "other side" of me for so long, it's healthy to let it out (and tearing up at work) every now and again...I think. Here goes:

Here are some questions for you; questions that have plagued the minds of thousands of people and philosophers alike, why are we here? Who are we? What's the meaning of life? I know those questions are probably some of the most cliche questions ever existed, yet no one has found the definite answers to them yet. Let me give you a run-down of what happened to lead me to this dark philosophical hole. It's been a rough day so far, and rough days usually bring about Dark Emo Catherine. And DEC decided to start the day off by questioning her worth and existence. Be warned before you proceed, this is going to be a depressing post. Yes, it's going to make you question a lot of things in your life, but reflecting back on your life is usually a trip down feels-ville. I don't mean to be a downer. I don't want to drag you down a spiral of desire, but the truth sucks, but to ignore it is not usually blissful...in the long run. Links for all the data down below: Credit: ...

Believe it or not, I have only been in a relationship once. If you know me at all, you'd know that I'm a very flighty person, and I have moments when I realized that I'm in a relationship and go into panic mode. It happens more than I can count, but I'm still here. Just as every else in life, I have stumbled, fallen, made mistakes and made some very stupid decisions. If I could go back and gave some advice to my 19-year-old self, this is what I would tell her:

I know I don't normally (or ever) do book reviews and I never thought I would even do one, until I read a book that has touched me in so many ways and will probably always remain one of my favorite books of all time, despite just finishing it this morning.  I was on Goodreads about a week or so ago as usual. Somehow, I was in a mood for some read that would leave me sobbing like a train wreck, so I searched for sad books. One of the results was a book by Garth Stein called, "The art of racing in the rain." Not only was the book voted by over a quarter of a million people, but it also received a 4.2 rating, which is pretty high for my standard. And of course, being the animal lover that I am, the cute little lab on the cover sealed the deal for me. I immediately downloaded it to my kindle and put it as my next book to read. 

If you know me at all, you'll know that I never did any type of reviews. I was going to a couple of times, but I kept putting it off until I didn't want to do it anymore. But here goes my first movie review, "The Last Reel" directed by Ms. Kulikar Sotho. *spoilers alert*

I have a funny story to share just to get you all hyped up for the weekend. I was going to one of the ministries earlier today to do an interview for an article. If you don't know me in person, you should probably know that I normally go around in denim shorts or above knee-length skirt/dress. Basically, I don't like wearing long bottoms because this is Cambodia we're talking about. The weather can get as high as 30 degrees. It's summer all year round.

This will be a very short update just to thank you guys for all the support that I've received. A friend of mine wrote an article about me, which was published earlier this week on the KhmerTimes. What happened afterwards still brings a huge grin on my face. After sharing the articles, both Khmer and English, on my Facebook, I did not imagine the amount of support that I received from all of you. I can never thank you enough to being on this journey with me. And of course, I wish that I could thank each and every one of you personally, but I can't.
